Meta recommends 4:5 (1440 × 1800 px) for Facebook and Instagram Feed and 9:16 (1440 × 2560 px) for Instagram Stories and Reels. Google responsive display ads take 1.91:1 (1200 × 628), 1:1 (1200 × 1200) and 9:16 (900 × 1600) images; LinkedIn single image ads take 1.91:1, 1:1 and 4:5; TikTok recommends vertical 9:16 video. The table lists each placement's recommended and minimum size, safe zone and official source; drop your image to see which placements it fits.

How to use it

  1. 1

Pick the placements your ad will run in (for example Instagram Feed and Stories) and find each one's ratio in the table.

  2. 2

Design at the largest recommended size; scaling a small image up later makes it blurry.

  3. 3

Drop the image into the box above: the tool reads its size and ratio and marks each placement as fits, accepted, too small or wrong ratio.

  4. 4

For Stories and Reels, turn on the safe zone and check that no text or logo sits in the marked areas.

What is a safe zone?

The safe zone is the part of the image the platform's interface (profile name, buttons, caption) doesn't cover. For Instagram Stories and Reels, Meta recommends keeping the top 14%, the bottom 35% and 6% on each side free of text, logos and key elements. On a 1440 × 2560 px image that is about 358 px at the top, 896 px at the bottom and 86 px on each side. Google advises against putting text or a logo on display ad images, because the image is cropped to many ad sizes.
